Here are some shortcuts to increasing your vocabulary. I repeat them here for convenience.
ary becomes ario (diario, salario)
ic becomes ico (automático, publico)
ous becomes ioso (curioso, delicioso)
act becomes acto (exacto, contacto)
Latin words that convert easily to Spanish
al becomes ál (normál, continuál, reál)
ant becomes ánte (importánte, constánte)
ly becomes mente (constántemente, legalmente, realmente)
juh becomes huh (generál, generálmente, original,)
normalmente = usually
naturalmente = obviously
ible/able pronounce every syllable (posíble, probáble)
ion becomes ión (opinión, pasión)
tion becomes ción (información, posición)
sion becomes sión (explosión, decisión)
If you take words that end in ation and you take away the tion you get the verb.
preparation - preparación - preparar
generation - generación - generar
confirmation - confirmación - confirmar
cooperation - cooperación - cooperar
In general, Latin words sound more formal in English but in Spanish they sound normal.
To find - encontrar - to encounter
To get ready - prepararme - to prepare oneself
ence becomes encia (diferencia, influencia)
ance becomes ancia (importancia)
tener becomes tain (obtener, contener)
poner becomes pose (suponer, componer, imponer, oponer)
