I came across this video and for many reasons, I was 'forced' to watch it.
- SuperHolly is very entertaining
- I loved the Queen's Gambit (if you haven't seen it, I recommend it!)
- Anya Taylor-Joy learned English from the Harry Potter books
What?! Her first language is Spanish but her uncle taught her English using the books. How fun!
Clearly SuperHolly is a fan. I understood about 65-70%, which, in my opinion, is pretty darn good considering how freakin' fast she speaks. I post it so I can go back to it later and note my improvement. SuperHolly is Super Fun 😃😄 which is what learning a new language is all about, right?

ReplyDeleteThe strange thing about her family was that her parents were both bilingual, but she only knew English…They then took the family to Mexico, and before going off to School (totally in Spanish) the mom taught her three verbs she might need to know!! Why didn’t they teach the kids both languages??
There are lots of bilingual kids in Ottawa, but usually parents try to ensure the kids’ French is strong first, as they will learn English because it surrounds them.
Not so strange. I grew up in a bilingual family. I learned Tagalog through osmosis but they never insisted I speak it when I started school, so I lost it fairly quickly. I have pretty good reading and listening comprehension, but I can't speak. Cheriz said she would help me when I was ready.
